Aachi Prawn Curry Masala is a spice mix to prepare a delicious spicy shrimp curry according to an authentic Indian recipe.

The shrimp curry is delicious to eat with, for example, naan bread, roti or rice.

Ingredients

Coriander, cumin, ginger, turmeric, red chili powder, garlic, salt, fennel, black pepper, dried mango, red lentils, star anise.

Explanation ingredients

Coriander: the leaves have a lemony flavour, while the seeds have a slightly sweet, aniseed flavour.
Cumin: gives a nutty and peppery taste to dishes. Can be used in, for example, curry or chili.
Red lentils: legumes.
Turmeric: spice extracted from the roots of turmeric plant. It provides flavor and color in curry dishes.
Ginger: has an intense pungent taste. Can be used in, for example, desserts, bread or biscuits. In India it is widely used with fish.
Fennel: promotes digestion and freshens breath. Fennel tea is used for coughing.
Garlic: Has distinctive taste and can be used in many dishes.
Star anise: dried fruit with an aniseed flavour.

Storage advice

Store in a cool and dry place. After opening, transfer contents to an airtight container. Shelf life up to 2 years after production date.

Preparation

  1. Heat 150 ml of oil in a pan.
  2. Add 3 sliced onions, 2 sliced tomatoes and 1 tablespoon ginger/garlic paste and heat well.
  3. Add 50 grams of Aachi Prawn Curry Masala and the required amount of water and salt.
  4. Heat this over low heat for 15-20 minutes until the oil starts to separate.
  5. Add 750 grams of cleaned shrimp and stir fry for 10-15 minutes until it starts to dry up.
  6. Serve it hot with, for example, roti, naan or rice.
