Tamarind has a flavoursome sour taste with a hint of sweetness that is used all over the world as a natural sour ingredient and as a substitute for lemon and vinegar.

This highly concentrated paste is used in making chutneys, curries, marinades (for example, for meat, chicken or fish), dishes and desserts.

Tamarind is also a good source of vitamin C.
